Uganda
Uganda has no port, so every truck lands at Mombasa (Kenya) or Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) and travels inland under customs transit before clearing into Uganda. Right-hand drive is mandatory, and UNBS conformity applies before shipment.
Ghana
Ghana prohibits right-hand drive trucks, and conformity certification moved to the Ghana Standards Authority. Tema is the main gateway, and age limits can affect used units.
Tanzania
Dar es Salaam is East Africa's main gateway. Tanzania drives on the left, requires TBS conformity (PVoC or destination inspection), and LATRA registration before the truck can work.
Kenya
Kenya drives on the left and is the biggest truck market in East Africa. Trucks clear through Mombasa with KEBS conformity and KRA duty, then register with NTSA.
Nigeria
Nigeria drives on the right and is West Africa's largest truck market. Trucks clear through Apapa or Tin Can Island with SONCAP/SCAP conformity and Nigerian Customs duty.
Zambia
Zambia is landlocked; trucks come via Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) or Durban (South Africa). Zambia drives on the left, requires ZABS conformity, and RTSA registration.
